First of all, let me start of by thanking Michael for coming to me and asking me if I'd like to help promote the concert he's doing with his brothers called "Osmond Family Christmas with the 2nd G". I'm deeply honored. To know that he visits this website, which is dedicated to his family is a real treat. Makes all of the time and effort worth while and makes me realize just how lucky I am to have the Osmonds in my life. They are the best. With that said, here is what Michael had to say about this upcoming concert event.
A Message from Michael Osmond:
For the past few years, my brothers and I have had a lot of requests to do a Christmas show. We fought it for a while, but do you know what? We love Christmas. And this is something that we really enjoy doing together. We will be doing shows on November 23rd and 24th; at Thanksgiving Point in Utah. Tickets will go on sale this coming Wednesday Sept 26th. Please call (888)672-6040; or (801)768-2300. We look forward to having some fun with you this Christmas!
Q: What is it like performing with your brothers again?
A: We're having a ball. This actually got started by us goofing around one night after a Sunday dinner. We started talking about the Christmas shows we'd done with The Brothers and Aunt Marie as kids, and all the shows we'd done in Branson. We sang a few of the songs, to see if we could remember the various parts; and do you know what? The bug bit. We had so much fun that we thought: How can we not do this? We can't wait.
Q: What will this show be like?
A: There will be several of our traditional Christmas numbers, along with a few additional ones.
Q: Do you plan on ever touring with a Christmas show?
A: Not this year. If all goes well, we'd like to explore that for next year.
Can we expect a DVD or CD of this show?
A: We've talked about it, but I don't think it will happen this year.
Q: What was Christmas day like in your home as a child?
A: Crazy! My Father and Mother always made it magical. One of my favorite "funny" memories, was that David had asked all Christmas season for a "Rambo - Water Machinegun." Well Santa made a mistake, and gave it to Doug. Ha! To make a long story short, Dave rarely got to use "Dougs" water gun. HA! (I think Dave's still a little bitter over it).
Q: What is your most memorable Christmas gift?
A: I had been dreaming about a go-cart all year. I never thought I'd get it, but I guess I was a good boy that year. Santa delivered.
Q: When you were a child, who was the last one to get up on Christmas day in your family and who was the first?
A: We almost always put sleeping bags in one of the rooms, and we all slept in there. We didn't sleep well at all, so we were almost always up together before the sun was fully up.
Q: Now that you have children of your own, what’s it like watching them on Christmas morning?
A: I'm still not sleeping. It's definatly my favorite holiday - for many reasons.
Q: What do you remember about performing on the Donny & Marie Christmas shows as a child?
A: In one scene, there are a bunch of kids throwing snowballs in the background. I was one of them. I remember watching a re-run of Nathan and Me fighting while the family sang "Love at Home."
Q: We know that your aunt and uncles received new pajama’s every year on Christmas. Does that tradition continue in your family?
A: Sort of. My parents still buy the whole family pajamas.
Q: Will there be any 3rd Generation, Osmonds performing in your Christmas show?
A: Absolutely! They're already practicing.
Keep the questions coming!
